No person shall park a motor vehicle or trailer within an alley leaving less than 10 feet of the width of the roadway available for the free movement of vehicular traffic.
Parking Heavy Equipment in Residential Zones
It is unlawful to park or allow to stand any motor vehicle having a total gross weight of 50,000 pounds, whether loaded or unloaded, or having a total length in excess of 24 feet from the most forward point of the vehicle or its load to the most rear point of said vehicle or its load, upon any street in a residential zone.
Obstructing Sidewalks or Public Streets
It shall be unlawful for any property owner to allow any material or object, such as trees, shrubs, or vehicles to obstruct the free passage of any person or vehicle on a sidewalk or public street.
Snow Removal
Property owners are responsible for removing the snow from the sidewalk adjacent to their property. Snow and/or ice must not be piled or pushed so that it obstructs a driveway, street, or blocks visibility of vehicles or pedestrians.
Zoning Enforcement
Zoning Enforcement action may be taken when violations of the City’s zoning ordinances occur. Common violations include, but are not limited to: occupancy violations (where more than the authorized number of occupants reside in a dwelling), engaging in construction without a building permit, storage of junk or inoperable vehicles within public view, and failure to obtain CUP and business licenses for operation of businesses or rental properties. For more information contact the City Office at 387-2711.
Building Permits
No structure shall be constructed, enlarged or altered, except a fence (up to 6 feet in height), without first applying for and obtaining a building permit. Owners of private property making improvements to rental property dwellings are required to hold a contractors license if doing the work themselves or hire a licensed contractor. Homeowners performing work on property used as their primary residence are required to sign an owner-builder exemption form and file it with the City Recorder. In any case, a building permit must be applied for and obtained before commencing work on the property. For information on filing for a building permit contact the City Office at 387-2711.
