PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
March 14, 2007

The Milford City Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was called to order by Chairperson Thieme at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Present were, Members: Cory Beebe, Cullen Carter, Lisa Carter, Robert Shaw and Terry Wiseman; Zoning Administrator, Arden Fowles. Visitors: Phyllis Mayer and Lana Shaw.

1. Review and approval of the regular meeting minutes of December 13, 2006. Commissioner Cullen Carter made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion and all were in favor. The motion passed unanimously.

2. Review and action regarding a request from Phyllis and Richard Mayer to place a public storage facility on land located to the East of 200 East between 200 & 300 North. Ms. Mayer presented a preliminary idea that she is looking at developing Block 8 (which is platted as a half Block) in Plat A of the North Milford Latey & Williams Townsite for use as recreational vehicle storage units. The commission discussed relative merits of methods in which to assist in the development of the land for commercial use that included conditional use permits under the present zone or to look further into the undeveloped land which abuts the Railroad right-of-way and rezone the entire are area for multi-use commercial. Commissioner Beebe made a motion that the Commission take steps to rezone the area that lays North of Center Street and East of 100 East to the North and East city limits. Commissioner Wiseman made a second to the motion. All were in favor, the motion passed unanimously.

3. Commission Reports and Comments. Commissioner Beebe inquired into the status of non-conforming land use issues. Administrator Fowles explained that on closer review of the present ordinance he didn’t see the need for amending it, that he thought it had the elements necessary for enforcement. With no further business. Chairman Thieme adjourned the meeting at approximately 7: 45 p.m.
