| · How do I get the utilities at my new residence turned on and placed in my name?
Milford City Ordinances require all customers to file an application for water and sewer services. This application can be obtained at the City Office or by contacting us at 435-387-2711. A security deposit equal to two months minimum billing is required with the submission of the application for services. Once the City Office has received the application and payment of the security deposit, staff can schedule to have the water turned on. There will be a $10.00 Account Activation Fee applied to the accounts first billing. Services can generally be connected between 8 AM and 3 PM Monday through Thursday and 8 AM to Noon on Fridays, excluding holidays. The customer should be at the property at time of connection to ensure there are no leaks inside the home. Milford City Code prohibits customers from accessing water meters and/or activating services. Customers accessing water meters without authorization will be held liable for any damages to the meter and/or equipment contained within the meter box.

| · My water usage seems high, what can I do to investigate why?
The City reads the meters April through October. Any readings that look abnormally high are re-read to ensure that the reading was correctly taken. Customers who feel the usage at their property is high are encouraged to contact the City Office, however, may we offer the following suggestions: 1) check the property thoroughly, inside and outside, to ensure there are no leaks. If a leak is determined, contact the City Office to have your water shut off immediately. 2) check all toilets to ensure they are working properly and not continuosly running. A leaking toilet will drastically increase water usage. 3) check water faucets to ensure no hoses are open and running. 4) during the summer months, determine if the sprinkling system is working properly. Investigate watering schedule to ensure optimal irrigation. Although there are currently no water restrictions, the City of Milford does suggest that customers do not water their yards during the hottest hours of the day when the rate of evaporation is at its peak.

| · When is residential garbage pickup?
Milford pickup is scheduled for Mondays. Please have your containers out by 7:00 AM and place them at the edge of the asphalt. If pickup falls on Christmas or New Years, your garbage will be picked up the following day.
All garbage must be in BCSS#5 containers. Second cans may be ordered by contacting the city office or by calling 386-2530. The cost is $7.00 extra. Please do not take your neighbors can or borrow from vacant homes. The cans are assigned by serial number and you are responsible for your can.
Hints......
1. Do not fill your can so full that the lid will not close.
2. Your can should not weigh over 80 lbs. when full (it will be left if it does).
3. No rocks or limbs allowed.
4. No HOT coals allowed. If your container melts or is damaged otherwise, you will be charged the cost of replacement, which is approximately $80.
5. If you live within the city limits, DO NOT USE THE DUMPSTERS.....the landfill is free and is not that far out of the way.
6. If you are assigned a dumpster, please remember you share this dumpster with your neighbors. Please don't save everything up and then fill the dumpster to the top. Your neighbors pay to use this dumpster too.
7. Please no tires, batteries, furniture, or construction debris in the dumpsters or residential toters!!!!
8. Extra trash is only allowed on the pickup day following Christmas Day.
9. Your garbage container is assigned to your address by number. Please be responsible for your toter.
10. Please BAG your garbage whenever it is possible. This prevents trash from blowing all over town on those windy Milford days.
11. Keep your toter away from poles, mail boxes, fences, trees and vehicles....the garbage truck needs room to work or your garbage will be left.
12. Please do not remove garbage containers from vacant homes. If you are caught doing this, you will be charged for using the container. You may request an additional can. Back to top
